Food Photography in Fredericksburg: Coffee & Menu Shoot at Affogato Café

I recently had the pleasure of doing a coffee and food photoshoot for Affogato Café in Fredericksburg, VA, capturing their delicious menu in fresh, bright images for their website and social media.

Affogato Café is a family-owned spot that blends Balkan and Italian flavors with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. They’re known for premium espresso brewed on a Slayer machine, organic smoothies with no added sugar, and fresh pastries made from generations-old family recipes. From savory paninis to sweet crepes, every visit feels like a treat.

Clean, Bright, and Appetizing

The team wanted clean, bright photos that would feel fresh and inviting online, so I styled the shoot with a crisp white background to make each dish pop. This approach keeps the focus on the food and works beautifully across different platforms — from their website menu to their Instagram feed.

A Menu Worth Styling

The variety on their menu kept me inspired the entire shoot. From colorful açaí bowls to decadent banana Nutella crepes, from elegant cherry yogurt cake to the hearty smokey alpine panini — every plate had its own personality. I styled each dish to highlight its textures, colors, and ingredients, making sure every image looked just as appetizing as the real thing.

The Affogato Bonus

As a fun add-on to the session, we created a stop-motion series of an affogato being made — rich espresso poured over creamy vanilla ice cream. And yes… I taste-tested it after we wrapped the shot. Oh my goodness, it was as heavenly as it looked! If you love coffee with a sweet twist, this one is a must-try (though maybe not for the strict black coffee drinkers).
